I was originally as debunker of nutrition science--and later health science--misinformation.
I was looking for something new and I stumbled on Covid in late 2022.
I was just looking for another misinformation topic to comment on, as I had done with countless other topics countless times.
But the response I got when I did was overwhelming.
This was finally an area of science to debunk that was highly germane to what was happening in society.
And I had never been at the center of such a visible, intense controversy.
Little did I know that, the longer I went, the more I would get sucked down an insane rabbit hole.
There are many ideologies that cause people to reject science. In nutrition, these are usually ethical (plant-based diets) or aesthetic or political (carnivore, keto, etc.).
But what I found for Covid was that these ideologies related to deep-seated beliefs that has swept through and conquered the professional-managerial class.
Media, law, medicine, academia, government, everything. Everything had been taken over by left-wing ideology.
I had never known this, never realized this, always looked down on conservatives with contempt before this.
I hadn't been political. I had been a scientist looking for another frontier of misinformation to debunk.
I had voted for Biden. I was a lifelong Democrat who had spent a long time avoiding politics after my forays into Marxism and neo-Marxism in my early 20s.
But it turns out that conservatives had been right about Covid. So I was forced to confront my biases.
It was hard at first. It felt like my personhood was splitting apart. My mind was melting. When in 2022 I realized the cataclysmic fuck-up that was Covid policy, all my sense of center disintegrated.
There was no center. No authority I could look to anymore.
And the bad guys--the conservatives--this time they were the good guys.
They weren't perfect, but they were overall right.
And the bad guys were the leftists--those who were more educated. In fact, their education was an indoctrination that blocked them from seeing the truth.
I came to see all of society, all of science, being slowly consumed by left-wing ideological corruption.
My love--science--was not safe from the reigning authorities.
We were back to the early days of science, when science was a revolutionary force against entrenched power.
And the good guys were the bad guys and the bad guys the good.
It changed my entire view of the world, and of politics.
And all I had wanted was to promote some new topic as a health influencer.
All I had wanted was some exposure for promulgating some interesting ideas.
I never knew how far down the rabbit hole it would take me.
I don't regret anything.
The price for authentic science is high.
It's the job of a scientist to pay that price when necessary.
I paid it and it radicalized me.
If you put pre-2022 me in the shoes of those who dismissed me—I would have dismissed me too.
2020 me would have cheered on the persecution of 2023 me.
I would have been enraged at the “misinformation” that 2023 me spread.
I wouldn’t have understood just how much my values and tribalism were distorting my point of view.
That is the chasm I have traversed.
Now, I will always defend science.
But now I know that includes even when that means becoming political.
When science is made political--when the alternative is losing science--there is no other choice.
As a scientist, this is my job.
I am proud to be a scientist.
I will defend science against the forces of darkness that threaten to destroy it, to the bitter end.
Conservatives may have been relatively more correct about covid, but far from perfect. I’m in a conservative FB group, and would get flamed every time I’d post about how masks don’t work, and then about how the vaccines didn’t work and were dangerous. Plus, the lockdowns and mask obsessions started under Trump, of course he’s far from a conservative but more so than Biden.
The few conservatives who were relatively more correct were DeSantis, Noem (South Dakota) and Kemp (Georgia). Even Abbot in Texas was slow to drop masking, although he finally did.
So the conservative record is mixed, there really were very few heroes politically.
I’m not sure it was the conservatives who were necessarily right. It was like… 3 of them who had the courage to question & point out the problems starting in 2020. THREE.
Everyone was lied to, & most of the world believed it.
For some reason a FEW conservatives (Thomas Massie, Ron Johnson & Rand Paul are the only ones I can name who said anything about what might be really going on as far as Pharma shenanigans prior to 2021) started to squeak and then speak up and then speak loudly. Massie, Paul & Johnson are now heroes in my eyes, at least bc of what they’ve said & done since 2020. Ron Johnson’s 3, 4 & 5-HOUR hearings on Covid were jaw dropping. Look them up on Rumble & watch all 3-4 of them. You will be stunned at what you’ll hear & ticked off the news didn’t cover any of it.
I was, in late 2019, considering voting blue for the first time ever, having been a war hating but fiscal conservative. Bernie had made great points… & I liked Elizabeth Warren for railing against the corporate takeover of America. Trump seemed so divisive & lacking in at least civility & tact but Biden… OMG. Who is really pulling the puppet strings, one has to ask!
Then Covid hit & Trump allowed the lockdowns to start & seemed like he was getting bad guidance & was too cocky to suspect it, but then said he definitely wouldn’t mandate the vaccines. Considering what a 10+ year investigating Pharma had taught me, that sounded less bad than Biden, who was saying he’d harass mayors, coerce governors & strongarm all our corporations & leaders into forcing their underlings to take the shots. … Terrifying to someone who’d already had 1/4 of her adult life decimated by 2 Pharma products. This is my story: https://www.kvue.com/mobile/article/news/investigations/medical-device-dangers/fda-does-not-test-most-devices-implanted-in-humans-and-many-are-paying-for-it/269-c41ad14d-031f-4166-a18b-4361e8e22cfd
All this to say 1) I still want you to let me interview you, but this time it won’t be for The Highwire & Del Bigtree. I write, podcast & interview now for The Kennedy Beacon Substack / AV24, the SuperPAC supporting RFK Jr. for president.
Kennedy is the only one saying what I believe is critical: Pharma has bought our regulators, our media & most of our lawmakers. It’s out of control, people are being maimed & killed, & this has to be stopped. 2) it’s been hard to see a good man like you, one who’ll make a great clinician, be treated as your former school treated you. It’s so wrong & I know it’s stressful. I’m angry. You are the kind of doc we need.
But if we are to stop the people who have pulled this off & appear to be getting away with it, we must FORGET party & ideology and unify.
Divided we fall.
The Constitution makes no mention of parties. We need to look for sane leadership which will try to unify us & heal the divide. In my mind that’s Kennedy, & no I don’t love every stance he has, but he’s the only one calling out the behemoths who have ruined our world & will only make it worse unless WE, THE PEOPLE, stop them.
To me, the two parties are two wings of the same bird, meant to distract us and keep us fighting against each other, so we never fight against the real problems: the Federal Reserve, the Bank of International Settlements, Citizens United (I know, I know), the DEBT, Pharma, the WEF, WHO, the Davos freak shows who think they deserve to control (& cull?!) humanity & the War Industry and the bazillions of people who profit by investing in it.
I have never been political, but I honestly now see a Kennedy win as our literal last hope. I need to believe we can do better than what we’ve had. It’s time to re-unify.
Please don’t attack me. I love you all, my American brothers & sisters & fellow humans of this world. No matter who is elected, I will never stop loving and believing in Americans as a people, even if we’re being taken over by the corporations.
